A DAY IN THE LIFE OF RUNNING ONE OF THE MOST PROFITABLE FRANCHISES, SAMURAI SAM’S.
THE SAMURAI SAM’S TERIYAKI GRILL® STORY
Many Samurai Sam’s Teriyaki Grill® franchise owners choose to run a hands-on operation and manage their restaurant each day. Others hire management teams to run their restaurants while they spend their time monitoring and promoting the business. As the business owner, you have the power to choose the lifestyle you want while running the franchise. That flexibility is one of the main reasons why so many people choose to start a franchise.
Some of our franchise owners choose to purchase a Territory and will operate multiple stores. Your workday will differ depending on the number of restaurants you own and your degree of direct involvement. The power to choose how to run a successful location is in your hands. Our job is to provide you with all of the tools that will allow you to accomplish your goals and dreams of owning your own business.
When you open your first restaurant franchise, you will likely be the one opening the door each morning.
A crucial management duty is to make sure your restaurant is fully staffed and your employees are properly trained. To help you, the week leading up to your Grand Opening the Kahala Brands ™ development team will train you and your new employees so that you are fully prepared to operate your restaurant, and they will also train you to train new employees in the future as needed.
As a franchise owner you will be in charge of scheduling and conducting interviews as needed to ensure your restaurant is fully staffed. Speaking of schedules, a franchise owner spends a portion of every day scheduling employee shifts, keeping track of the staff’s working hours and either handling or overseeing payroll. Other frequent responsibilities include providing ongoing employee training and handling workplace items.
Whether you own one Samurai Sam’s Teriyaki Grill® franchise or several, you will need to spend time each day reviewing your books. Going over your numbers each night allows you to spot small problems before they become big ones.
The computer programs available through Kahala Brands corporate office help you manage sales, time cards and inventory.
In addition to payroll functions, you must also calculate royalty earnings and track and manage corporate expenditures. You can hire an accountant to do this, but the franchise owner is financially responsible and many choose to do the bookkeeping themselves.
A portion of each franchise owner’s day is typically spent reviewing advertising and marketing efforts. It is important that you get to know your neighbors and get involved with your community. Your marketing team and your Kahala Brands support team will work with you on your LSM efforts.
ON-GOING USEFUL TRAINING
Bringing customers into your business is just the beginning. You have to work to keep them coming back. That means your food quality must remain consistent and your customer service must be exceptional. Samurai Sam’s Teriyaki Grill® franchise owners are encouraged to conduct regular training and customer service programs for employees. In addition, franchise owners are occasionally required to attend educational seminars at Kahala Brands headquarters. These seminars are provided to keep franchisees up to date on new market trends, products, training tools, and marketing initiatives which help franchisees grow their business and stay up-to-date on the brand.
Now that you have hired good managers and responsible employees, you can engage in local activities that raise your profile in the community. The best Samurai Sam’s Teriyaki Grill® stores are not only known for their great food but for having a franchise owner that is actively engaged in their community, whether it be attending Chamber of Commerce meetings, sponsoring a local sports team or hosting a fundraising event. These will all improve your visibility in the community.
